Our does are bred by artificial insemination.  This strategy provides access to the best sires available in the herd book maintained by Pedigree International.  Each pedigree lists the parents, grandparents and great grandparents of the registered goat.  In many cases, the parentage of the animals is verified by DNA analysis conducted independently by the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory at the University of California, Davis.  By carefully selecting animals with diverse genetic backgrounds, we ensure that goats from The Caprine Company have the best chance of expressing the inherent attributes of the Savanna breed.   Purchase of a registered Savanna ensures that traits inherent to the breed are in the DNA of every Savanna goat.  Currently, RHG H13 is our herd sire (see photo and pedigree).
