In addition to their interest in goats to mitigate fire dangers, Rob and Jill bring their backgrounds in clinical science and biotechnology to The Caprine Company. For 26 years, Jill helped couples achieve their family goals through In vitro fertilization. As a clinical embryologist in private clinics, at UCSF and at Stanford, she is well versed in semen preservation, artificial insemination and embryo transfer. While the details of these procedures differ in the clinic and the goat barn, we apply the same principles to breed our does at The Caprine Company. Rob was trained as a geneticist and taught students of agriculture and veterinary medicine at the University of Guelph, Canada and the University of California, Davis. He founded three breeding companies using a variety of genetic technologies to bring novel strains of guinea fowl and chickens to the market. His knowledge of genetics and breeding strategies are now being used to bring the best traits of the Savanna breed to our herd at The Caprine Company.
